During November and December, students across the Wautoma Area School District participated in service learning activities. Through volunteering, students learn about kindness and being generous to others through a hands-on approach that both showcases student talents and connects classroom lessons to community needs.

Last week, the Redgranite Correctional Institution (RGCI) donated hats, scarves, and mittens valued at approximately $1,350.00 to Riverview and Redgranite Elementary Schools.
As you may know, RGI is a male, medium security prison that houses approximately 1,000 persons. Projects like this helps to occupy the time of Persons in Our Care in a positive and constructive manner, while also providing an opportunity to give back to local communities. RGCI utilizes Persons in our Care with sewing, knitting, and wood working skills to create donations.
RGCI is fortunate to have a supply of materials allowing us the ability to help with the requests of local organizations and to help support local non-profit organizations
The Wautoma High School Band Winter Concert will be held on Monday, December 16th at the McComb/Bruchs Performing Arts Center. The concert will begin at 7:00 PM.

Third grade students in ms. Lyons class had their last visit from high school student, Amelia grey in ms. Gills class. Today students made ugly sweaters.
Wautoma High School Spanish Advanced Placement Students and members of the Spanish National Honor Society stopped by Heartland House yesterday. Prior to their visit, the students in Mrs. Peterman’s class created Spanish Bingo using Christmas vocabulary. All of the residents really enjoyed the company and loved the visit from the high schoolers.

Congratulations to Redgranite Elementary Students Showing the Character Trait Respect throughout the month of November!
Rylan Marks possesses a strong work ethic and demonstrates determination to succeed. His strong work ethic is impressive at school. He follows through on his coursework, asks questions, and puts in extra time to improve his understanding of the skills. His work ethic is shown as well in his willingness to help out at any time, even when it's simple things like volunteering at the end of the day to help with classroom routines. Rylan works well with his classmates and participates in class which shows respect and his ability to work cooperatively with others. Rylan consistently shows that he is a responsible and helpful member of our school, and his effort is appreciated!
Starting out teaching in a new classroom in the middle of the school year has brought some challenges, but this group of fifth graders has stepped up and worked hard in class. Everybody has done a great job, but one student really stands out. This student comes to school ready to learn every day. He is eager to participate and answer questions, and is alway ready to help a friend in need. He has also been a great help to me after school. When I'm setting up a science experiment for the next day, this student is there to search for supplies in our boxes and to help keep things organized. He is always helpful and a wonderful student in class.
For all these reasons and more, Mr. Bagnall nominated Alex Markowski for Redgranite’s Student of the Month. Great job, Alex!
The Redgranite Third Graders would like to send a heartfelt "thank you" to all those who contributed to the 15th Annual Pajama Drive. This year we collected 123 sets of pajamas and $843.49 in monetary donations. The monetary donations were used to purchase 99 additional sets of pjs. So, the total number of pjs that will be donated to the Waushara Holiday Project will be 222 sets! Wow! This year's event was another successful one because of the generosity of our students, staff and community members!
Parkside School held their annual food drive from November 4th through November 22nd. At the conclusion of the event the Parkside Student Council donated a total of 3,337 non-perishable food items to the Waushara County Food Pantry. Thank You, Parkside and Student Council members for your hard work and generosity!

On December 2nd, Special Education Teachers and Staff are celebrated to commemorate the signing of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) into law by President Gerald Ford on November 29, 1975. The day honors the importance of special education in the community.

His strong organizational skills ensure he’s always prepared, making him a reliable and focused presence in class. Along with his academic strengths, he also deeply values and respects his classmates, helping to create a positive and inclusive environment. His kindness and consideration make him a role model who is respected and admired by his peers. The 7th grade team is proud to nominate Gavin Giebel as Parkside’s November Student of the Month.
Redgranite and Riverview students in Mrs. Miller's art classes recently helped make pieces for larger artworks which will be on display at the Waushara Area Chamber of Commerce's Breakfast with Santa. This year's breakfast will be on Saturday, November 30th at the World War II Memorial Building in Wautoma. From 8:00 - 11:00 am, the community can enjoy a breakfast catered by Moose Inn. Breakfast is $5, kids 4 and under are FREE. Kids will receive a free picture with Santa.
Thank you to Borzick Farms Milkhouse Meats, located in Montello for donating blue doll porcelain pumpkins to the WASD Food Service and to the high school Family and Consumer Sciences class. Blue doll pumpkins are great for baking pies, cupcakes, bread, muffins and more! Mrs. Drake's class carved, scooped, pureed and froze for later use. From the kitchen, Crystal and Kalla processed enough pumpkin puree for each school to make homemade pumpkin bread for breakfast! Watch for it on the upcoming menu! Breakfast is free to all students district wide regardless of income!
