Redgranite Elementary Teacher Miss Lotspeich recently recognized a very special student in third grade who truly embodies what it means to show empathy.
Being empathetic doesn’t come easy, but Roxanne Venton-Walters is a natural at demonstrating empathy. Empathy is about treating others with kindness. It’s about understanding and showing that you value others. Roxanne consistently demonstrates empathy day in and day out by being kind and valuing others.
In addition, Roxanne is mindful of others. She listens attentively when someone is speaking, she shares and takes turns, and she is very helpful. She also demonstrated kindness by helping her community out through her 4-H project. Roxanne truly has a heart of gold.
It’s students like Roxanne who make our school a better and kinder place for everyone.

Sometimes people have a bond that is unbreakable. So is this with these two 6th grade young ladies. Both are caring individuals who can work with anyone, being positive and encouraging even in challenging situations. They work hard and give their best every single day, no matter what is going on. If they don't feel good, their teachers would never know it because they email asking what they are missing and apologizing for their absence, even though they have to heal their bodies. They are serious about their studies, often taking notes and going above and beyond expectations in every single way possible. Even though they are similar, they are also different in many ways. One of the girls is more go with the flow while the other will take charge. When asking the girls about each other, they would describe each other as one who will get the Culver's ice cream while the other is shy and asks someone to get it for her. While they are unique, they are also similar. One time in class, one of the girls sat down next to a struggling student and encouraged them to read, even if they could try just a sentence and then she praised the boy for the great job they did. The other girl sat with a group of students and she kept them on track so that the students met their reading goal. These girls encompass all of the Work and People Skills categories and we are lucky to have them in 6th grade. It is because of the above reasons and so many more that the 6th grade teachers are proud to nominate Elena and Elyssa Blader for Parkside's Students of the Month.

Congratulations, Parkside School December Character Award Winners!

The Riverview Elementary Second Grade Team would like to proudly nominate Summer Bintz-Knoff for student of the month.
Summer shows the Riverview character traits everyday when she is at school. She is one of the most kind and caring students and comes to school everyday with a smile on her face. Summer shows kindness and empathy by going out of her way to make others feel included and always asking someone to join her as a partner or playing at recess.
Summer also shows her determination by never giving up on a challenge especially when playing blookets. She shows respect to those around her by giving a kind reminder to be
doing the right thing. Summer is someone we can always count on to be a great role model and leader. She is always willing to share an answer or an opinion when having discussions
in the classroom.
These and many more reasons are why the Second Grade Team is proud to nominate Summer as student of the month.

Riverview Student Council held their annual food drive for the Waushara County Food Pantry during the month of December. Members were challenged by Mr. Kitchner and Mrs. Pietkauskis to bring in 500 items of food.
If they met or surpassed the goal they would dress up as The Grinch and Cindy Lou Who.... Well, the students not only met their goal, they surpassed it by brining in 630 items.
