Introduction of the WHS Nutrition Team in celebration of School Lunch Hero Day, May 3, 2024.
Brenda is the Head Cook and has 40 years of food service experience and has worked at WHS for the past 8 years. I enjoy feeding the students and value their feedback, good or bad. I feel our lunch program is on the right track. We serve such a wide variety of food. Some schools have only a 12 day menu rotation and we have a 6 week menu rotation. I like that we can introduce new flavors to the students by incorporating some fresh foods and spices to our menu. Something about me: I sometimes pack meal pouches for orphanages around the world. We are so blessed to have the lunch program that we have here.
Kalla is the Cook ll and has 10 years of food service experience and has worked at WHS for 5 years. I really enjoy the students and making different varieties of salads and sandwiches for the cold side. I like the variety of food that we serve here. Something about me: I am always smiling.
Jeanene started as Cook 1 and is currently the Lunch Accountant/Kitchen Helper. She has 45 years of food service experience and has worked at WHS for 2 years. I really enjoy my coworkers, the kids, and my boss. It is a great place to work. Something about me: I am a proud grandma!
Qiuwei is the kitchen helper and has 6 years of food service experience and has worked in WASD for three years. I really enjoy my job, the kids and my coworkers. The students are so nice and sweet. Our food service program offers lots of food to eat daily. It looks nice, nice colors and it is healthy. Something about me: I am a happy person. I like to make everyone around me happy.
Nicole is the Cook 1 and has 17 years of food service experience and has worked at WHS for almost a year. She enjoys seeing the students and working with her coworkers.

The WASD food service program has offered many new fresh and local food options this school year to our menu utilizing LFS (Local Food for Schools) grant funds to enrich the school meal programs. Working with the Wisconsin Food Hub out of Waupaca, Some of the things the students have enjoyed recently have been zucchini, butternut squash and beet noodles, rutabaga and beet sticks, mushrooms, roasted vegetable mix, lettuce mix, apples, broccoli, cauliflower, carrots, rosemary, basil, garlic and onions. The Wisconsin Food Hub (WFHC) is a farmer-led cooperative owned by the producers and the Wisconsin Farmers Union. The WFHC makes it easy to buy local fresh organic fruits, vegetables and dairy products. We have added many new items to our salad bars and serving lines at all of our schools in our district.
