Miss Strobl’s Peer Power Leadership Group was busy this month. They reached out to teachers and staff in the district to donate fleece so they could make fleece tie blankets to donate to an organization in our community. With generous donations, they were able to make and donate 6 fleece tie blankets to the Waushara County Food Pantry. The blankets will be given to those needing a little extra warmth this winter.

The Hornet Market located at Parkside school will be open today from 3:30-4:00! Stop in and pick up some groceries for over the holiday break! For all enrolled WASD families only.
This is the first year FCCLA is at Wautoma High School; they are off to a great start this year with 25 members. To raise money for competitions and the community, students sold, baked, and packaged up over 100 cookie kits. Through this last cookie kit sale, FCCLA was able to donate 25%, $306, of its proceeds to the Waushara County Food Pantry! Their hard work paid off! Congrats to the students and the Waushara County Food Pantry.
FCCLA is a student-led organization that completes projects based around the Family and Consumer Sciences curriculum. It promotes and improves problem-solving abilities, communication skills, and career development with recognition through competition. It provides students with all kinds of opportunities and allows them to have fun while supporting their community.

Dylan is a very sweet kid who is always willing to help out others. The minute he gets here in the morning he gets right to his morning work. He is a role model in our class by showing others what they should be doing and giving friendly reminders. He comes to school every day prepared to learn. His attention is always at the front of the room and frequently answers questions. If he gets a question incorrect, Dylan doesn't get upset. He accepts when he is wrong and tries to figure out what he did wrong so he can correct himself. If Dylan is finished with his work early, he always knows what to do next or will ask his friends if they need help.
Dylan is a friend to everyone in his class and is able to work with everyone. When outside at recess, he helps his friends with conflicts by using Kelso's Choices.

This afternoon, WHS students and staff attended a presentation by motivational speaker Cory Greenwood. A native of Minnesota, Cory speaks to audiences about making positive choices, realizing one's value, making connections to those who can help and support, and that everyone matters. His message was very moving and applicable to the WHS community.
Riverview Elementary students collected 891 canned and boxed food items during a recent drive. The event was sponsored by the 3rd Grade Student Council. Their advisors, Mr. Woyak and Mrs. Bunde, said the students exceeded their goal of 700 items. The schools Principal, Mrs. Mucklin encouraged the student body to bring in food items by offering to dress up as Olaf, a character from the movie Frozen if they brought in the 700 food items. Looks like Olaf will be making his appearance soon!
Last Friday, members of Parkside Student Council helped package and box up items for local families in support of the Community Christmas Project. This has been one of the largest group of members that have attended this volunteer event in the last five years!

Due to the impending snowstorm, all after school activities and events have been canceled this evening, December 10th, including A+ After School, practices and clubs. There also will not be a late bus this evening. This also includes the wrestling tournament in Tomah on Saturday.

Miss Ponto's class received a treat for having the most items donated for 4th and 5th grade Morning Meetings during the Student Council's Food Drive. They donated 132 items! The School Total was 3285! Great Job Parkside!
Earlier to day students from Parkside School competed in the "Where in the World" Geography Competition with Mr. Bagnall. There were 29 other schools and the Parkside students took the 1st place overall and had a number of individual winners as well. Way to go, Parkside!!

This student demonstrates respect from the very beginning of the day. During our morning meetings, he greets his classmates using eye contact and a kind voice making sure that his classmates feel welcome. He also listens attentively to his classmates when they share during morning meetings. During class, he is a respectful student when he raises his hand to participate and is always ready to learn new things. He shows respect for our classroom environment when he keeps his desk area clean and organized. In the hallway, he walks quietly to ensure that he doesn’t disrupt other classes. On the playground, he demonstrates respect by playing by the rules and being kind to all students who are outside at recess. He is respectful in the lunchroom when he uses his manners. He always says “Yes, please” or “No, thank you.” He respects adults in our school when he holds conversations with staff members. He listens attentively and genuinely cares about what the adults have to say. I am proud of the example he sets for others. His respectful demeanor is something that we can all try to emulate. It is with great honor that I nominate Will Gustke as Redgranite’s Student of the Month.

Bill Harris from Renewable World Energies is in the 8th grade classroom this week teaching students about electrical safety, and properties electricity.
The WHS Music, Art, Spanish, and Physical Education Departments would like to nominate Owen Mulvey for student of the month.
Owen is a very hardworking, kind, conscientious young man who strives for excellence in all areas. Oftentimes Owen is the first person to arrive and last to leave class. The reason he is last to leave is because he always offers to help with putting the equipment away. This is true in multiple classes including band where he stayed after school frequently last spring to help bring all the instruments and chairs inside at the end of the school day.
Owen is a great role model and a caring student who enjoys working with his peers. He assists other students in class and generously mentors others on his own time. Students share that Owen is very helpful and that they feel comfortable asking him for help.
Over these years Owen has proven to be a thoughtful and diligent student. In Spanish III he works hard and is not afraid to take the initiative to ask for further clarification if he doesn't understand a concept. He is enthusiastic to learn and works hard to make sure he is always well-prepared. He is also a fourth year member of the band where his leadership, musicianship, and continuous effort and hard work are very much appreciated
We believe that all of the wonderful traits that Owen brings to our WHS school community make him well-deserving to be our November student of the month.
The students and staff of Riverview Elementary School are doing their part to help those in need by collecting food for the Waushara County Community Christmas Food Drive. Non-perishable food items will be collected at the school until Friday, December 9th! Riverview has set a goal of collecting 700 food items. Keep up the great work!
