Last week, Redgranite fifth graders attended Conservation Field Day at Lake Lucerne. This event is put on by the Waushara County Land Conservation and Zoning office. Fifth graders had a blast learning from a variety of different agencies; Wild Rose High School students, the DNR, and Golden Sands. We would like to give a huge shout out to everyone who helped put on this amazing event. We look forward to getting to learn how to protect and recognize things in our wonderful Earth each year.
HOMECOMING PARADE:
The Wautoma Area School District Homecoming Parade will begin at 2 PM and all spectators should avoid the River/Waupaca Street Intersection. All other sections of the parade route are in good shape.
Parkside A+ After-School Program helping pack boxes at the Waushara Food Pantry. They learned the importance of safe handling of food, covering clothing, washing hands, and wearing gloves. Many of the students were excited to help their community and "Pay it Forward".
Throughout the week, the Wautoma High School students have been working hard to produce the commemorative homecoming program and promotional materials. This year's logo was also created by two of Mrs. Appel's students.
The Wisconsin Food Hub has received grants for schools to receive fresh, locally grown produce in Wisconsin. The WASD nutrition program is working with several local growers, including a local apple orchard located right in Wautoma to provide fresh produce to our students at meal time!
Redgranite first, second and third grade students participated in a martial arts afternoon. Mrs. DeMaster from Martial Arts America in Berlin recently taught the children ways to show respect at home and school. Children also learned some techniques to help them stay focused in class. In addition, they learned about self-defense. Her lesson empowered the students and helped build their confidence. Thank you, Mrs. DeMaster!
On September 28, emergency management, law enforcement, and county school districts met to review current emergency/crisis plans. The objective of the meeting was to establish consistency within the plans across the county agencies and school districts. This group will be meeting quarterly to ensure collaboration, consistency, and opportunities for practice related to emergency preparedness and response.

Wautoma High School students in Sources of Strength took part in their first service project today alongside two of their staff leaders, Mrs. Krueger and Mrs. Marshall-Zoellner. The group visited Heartland House in Wautoma to visit with residents and create a cinnamon stick apple craft.
The goal of Sources of Strenght is to impact our school and community through positive actions, service, and choices. We will take part in a service project each month,
The Redgranite Student Council's mission is to spread kindness. One way they spread kindness is by celebrating students' birthdays. Today we celebrated all September birthdays. Happy birthday, everyone!
The Countdown to HoCo has started!
Today, Mrs. Christians 4K class enjoyed using 4 of their 5 sense while following directions. They drew shapes and the first letter in their names in shaving cream!
Early this morning members of the Class of 2024 gathered outside the high school for their annual Senior Sunrise!
Last week, Redgranite Elementary students in Ms. Lotspeich's class celebrated the THIRD DAY of THIRD GRADE. Students played pop-it math using THREE dice. They played a Place Value Challenge and tried to build the largest THREE-digit number. They had their pictures taken in groups of THREE and enjoyed books like Goldilocks and the THREE Bears. Finally, they enjoyed a THREE Musketeers candy bar to commemorate their special day. It's going to be a great year!
Wautoma High School Family and Consumer Science Teacher Kayla Gill was recently recognized at the Wisconsin Family and Consumer Educators (WFCE) Conference on August 2, for her work towards the Childcare Certification. With Mrs. Gill obtaining this specific certification, it allows for all of the WHS childcare classes to be dual credit.
To obtain the Childcare Certification requires teachers to work 1,000 hours at a daycare setting. Mrs. Gill was able to obtain her hours working at Little Sprouts from January to August and a call as the University of Stevens-Point, which tripled her hours in order to meet the requirement. Congratulations!
With the month of August being designated National Back to School Month, Eagle Creek Renewable Energy Representatives Lea Steltenpohl and Melissa Rondou presented a $250 gift card donation to Wautoma Area School District Administrator Jewel Mucklin. The gift card will be used towards the needs of the students and classrooms.
Eagle Creek Renewable Energy owns and operates 85 hydroelectric facilities across the United States.
This morning, Durga and Dennis Tiwari, owners of the new Wautoma Mobile Station on the corner of Hwys 21, 22, and 73, welcomed Wautoma Area School District Administrator Jewel Mucklin, Waushara County Administrator Melissa Pingel, Wautoma Public Library Director Hannah Klusmeyer, City of Wautoma Police Chief Mott, Wautoma Administrator, Clerk and Treasurer Tommy Bohler, and City of Wautoma Mayor John Nixon to their Grand Opening. The Tiwaris donated $500 to the school district as part of their support to students in need during their celebration.
WASD Nutrition Department is looking for a Head Cook (up to 35 hours per week) at Redgranite school, a Cook ll (up to 35 hours a week) and Kitchen helper (up to 12.5 hours per week) at Parkside School who loves working with youth to join our wonderful WASD nutrition team! Must have manual dexterity and ability to work under pressure, have a high school diploma or equivalent, pass a background check. A full job description is available by request.
