Congratulations to Redgranite Elementary's Student of the Month and Character Trait Award Winners! I would like to nominate this student for student of the month for many reasons. She is a polite student that is always willing to help a friend or classmate. She is respectful in all the ways that fifth graders can be; she respects others' learning environment by listening when a lesson is happening, she respects others' space by staying in her own space, and she respects our classroom by keeping her area clean. This student is also determined to always do her best. She asks questions when things are confusing or when a simple clarification is needed. She is also a leader in the sense that she not only follows school rules but reminds people around her to do the same. I see this student doing great things in the months left this school year. It is for these reasons and many more that I nominate Amelia Meckelberg for Redgranite’s Student of the Month. Empathy Award Winners - Sovia Donovan, Jaxx Aaronson, Ethan Soda, Bennett Baltz, Kamm Gonzales, Jediah Sullivan

This morning, WHS students enrolled in Mrs. Caves' Introduction to Business class presented the business pitch they created in a fashion similar to that seen on "Shark Tank." Colleen Bies, of the Wisconsin Women's Business Initiative Corporation, and Jenny Frees, owner of Starstruck Artistry, LLC in Oshkosh, listened to each unique pitch, asked questions, and offered suggestions to the students. Third hour Accounting students assisted with summarizing startup costs, creating a Chart of Accounts, Financial Worksheet, Income Statement, and a Balance Sheet. Fourth hour Web Tools students created a 30-second commercial for each business. Following the presentations, Colleen and Jenny had a meet and greet with all the entrepreneurs and looked at the websites created by the students for their individual business.

The WHS Spanish, Phy. Ed, Art and Music Departments would like to nominate Hoyt Keller as Student of the Month for December. Hoyt is currently in AP Spanish class. He is one of the first students to volunteer to read or do the daily activities. Hoyt is a student who completes his assignments on time with 100% effort. He is not afraid to ask questions to get a better understanding of the concepts that are being taught. Hoyt excels in the language because of his work ethic. He is a student that comes to class daily, ready to learn with a positive attitude. He works well in a group setting. He sets goals and works hard to achieve them. Hoyt is active in the Spanish Honor Society. When we are doing a fundraiser or volunteering for a community service project Hoyt without hesitation volunteers. We recently collected baking supplies for the Hornet Market and Hoyt came to the classroom with two large baskets full of supplies to donate. He has a caring demeanor and is willing to help others. Miss Mastricola said , "Hoyt has developed a strong work ethic over the past year in physical education. He has also become more vocal; voicing his opinions and checking for understanding when needed." Hoyt dedicates many hours to his passion of playing baseball and basketball. He is a team player and has worked hard on the court and on the field. Keep up the great work!
