COVID

WASD Families and Staff Members:

As COVID-19 active cases and quarantine numbers continue to decline in our area, in conjunction with the Waushara County Health Department, after Spring Break(Starting March 8th) the Wautoma Area School District will make the following modifications to our current COVID-19 Protocol:

  1. If a staff member or student is experiencing 1 of the symptoms indicated with an * OR at least 2 symptoms total, the respective staff member or student should stay home, and parents should contact their student’s respective school as soon as possible and staff members should contact their immediate supervisor as soon as possible. 
    - Fever (100.0F or greater)*
    - Cough*
    - Diarrhea*
    - Vomiting*
    - New Loss of Taste/Smell*
    - Shortness of Breath or Difficulty Breathing*
    - Muscle or Body Aches
    - Fatigue
    - Chills
    - Congestion or Runny Nose
    - Sore Throat
    - Headache
  2. If a student is experiencing COVID-like symptoms as indicated above or is ill with any other symptoms, the student needs to stay home; however, the student’s siblings can attend school if they do not have symptoms.  If a student is at school and is experiencing COVID-like symptoms as indicated above or is ill with any other symptoms, the student will be sent home; however, the student’s siblings can continue to attend school if they do not have symptoms. Whenever possible, the school nurse will be contacting parents regarding the availability of COVID-19 testing options within the school.  

  3.  If any adult household member is being tested for COVID-19 or has COVID-like symptoms as listed above,  please have all students from your household work remotely until a negative COVID-19 Test Result is received for that adult household member.

Summary of Modifications:  These modifications will provide:

  • Flexibility with symptoms

  • Allow siblings to stay in school if they do not have COVID-like symptoms

  • Focus on students staying home when an adult household member has COVID-like symptoms, as based on our collection of data often leads to students testing positive if an adult in the household has COVID-like symptoms and tests positive.
