As part of the Wautoma Area School District's transition following the closure of Riverview Elementary School, the District has been carefully planning updates to learning spaces at both Parkside School and Wautoma High School. These updates will allow us to better utilize our facilities while creating functional, welcoming, and engaging environments for students and staff.

Over the past several months, district staff and project partners have worked together to evaluate classroom needs and design spaces that support student learning, collaboration, and growth. We are pleased to share the final room layouts and design concepts that will be implemented throughout the summer.

Parkside School Updates

With additional students and programs moving into Parkside, several areas of the building will be updated to better support instruction and student services.

Highlights include:

  • Updated 4K learning environments designed specifically for our youngest learners.

  • 4K restroom facilities located within the learning area for improved accessibility and convenience.

  • Updates to second-grade classrooms and instructional spaces.

  • Relocation and reconfiguration of several rooms to maximize available space.

  • Updated flooring, paint, casework, countertops, doors, and finishes throughout selected areas.

These improvements will create learning environments that support both individual and collaborative learning while providing students with spaces designed to meet their educational needs.

Wautoma High School Updates

Several spaces at Wautoma High School will also be updated to accommodate program changes and room relocations resulting from the district-wide facility transition.

Highlights include:

  • As part of the renovation process, certified contractors will complete asbestos abatement in designated areas of the buildings prior to renovation activities, ensuring all work is performed safely and in accordance with state and federal regulations.

  • Reconfigured classroom layouts to support instructional programming.

  • Updated flooring, paint, and classroom finishes in certain areas.

These improvements will help ensure that students have access to learning environments that support academic success. District Interiors.

Supporting Student Success

The closure of Riverview Elementary School was not a decision made lightly. As part of that transition, the District has remained focused on ensuring that all students continue to have access to safe, welcoming, and effective learning environments.

These room moves and facility updates allow us to thoughtfully utilize our existing spaces while maintaining strong educational programming across the district.
