Riverview & Wautoma High School Exceed Expectations
For the second year, the Wautoma Area School District Meets Expectations according to the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction’s (DPI) 2024-2025 Report Card, earning an overall score of 66.8. Every year, the Wisconsin DPI releases school and district report cards to provide the public with transparent measures of accountability and performance and are based on four priority areas: achievement, growth, target group outcomes, and on-track to graduation.
“While report card data is only one measure of success, it helps us understand where we are growing and where we can continue to improve. Our staff remains committed to meeting the needs of every student,” said District Administrator Karl Morrin.
To determine a school or district score, the DPI uses student demographics to adjust the weighting of each priority area. In districts like WASD with higher rates of economically disadvantaged students, achievement receives less weight while growth receives more.
Riverview Elementary’s rating increased significantly, rising from Meets Expectations (69.6 in 2023-2024) to Exceeds Expectations in 2024-2025 with a score of 73.3. Since Riverview does not receive a growth score, 75% of the school’s rating reflects academic achievement. "Our success is a team effort," said Riverview Principal Alex Kitchner. "From staff to families to students, everyone plays a role in supporting achievement at Riverview. We are extremely proud of these accomplishments and are looking forward to expanding upon them and continuing to grow positively."
Wautoma High School earned a 71.1 on the report card, maintaining its Exceeds Expectations rating for another year. "The success of our students on the state report card is a direct reflection of their hard work, as well as the dedication of our staff, the support of our families, and the commitment of our community," said WHS Principal Jennifer Johnson. "We are proud of these accomplishments, and we will use this information to strengthen our programs, refine our instruction, and ensure that every student had the opportunities and resources they need to grow and succeed."
Redgranite Elementary’s result of Meeting Expectations (61.2) is impacted by its small student population, which can limit the available target group and growth data that make up the 65.6% of the overall score. Parkside also continues to Meet Expectations with a score of 65.3 for 2024-2025 with 41.7% of their score weighted in growth.
The Wautoma Area School District remains committed to using state data as one of many tools to guide instruction and strengthen student success. At the heart of the district is the belief that every student is much more than a single test score. Their growth inspires the staff to keep reaching higher to support students, families, staff, and community.
