hybrid learning model Frequently asked questions

How do I know if my child or children are in Cohort A (Monday and Thursday) or are in Cohort B (Tuesday and Friday)?

Your children will all be in the same Cohort. Your child's Cohort or 'Blended Learning Group' is listed at the end of your child's schedule on the Infinite Campus portal. Schedules can be found under 'Documents' in the parent Infinite Campus portal. Effective Friday, October 2nd this information will also be available on the 'Today' screen in the parent Infinite Campus portal. You can also contact your child’s school and they can provide you with Cohort information. Student will be expected to work virtually on the other two days opposite their Cohort group.

What about students who are currently Full-Time Virtual or are currently quarantined?

Students who are currently Full-Time Virtual will continue to be educated virtually but will also be placed in their assigned Cohort for management purposes. Parents can also contact their child’s school to find out what Cohort they are assigned.

Students who are quarantined will stay with their assigned Cohort when they are at home and will transition back to their Cohort at school when they can return.

What if my child rides the school bus?

Your child or children will continue to ride the same school bus at the same times on their 2 days of In-Person learning.

What about 4K?

4K instruction will not be impacted by this transition, as their schedule will remain intact.

What about Extracurricular activities?

At this time there has been no evidence of COVID-19 spread during extracurricular activity; therefore, extracurricular activities will continue. Families will have to transport their child to practice on their virtual learning days. If a family cannot transport a child to practice on their virtual learning days, this absence will not be held against the student.

How can my child or children receive school breakfast and/or lunch if they are Full-Time Virtual, Quarantined, or on their Non In-Person Days?

A plan developed by Tami Stansbury, the WASD Food Services Director, will be shared with all families during the week of October 5th-9th.

What takes place on Wednesday?

Wednesday is a work day for staff members and students. Instructional staff members will use this day to prepare instruction for both Student Cohorts, Full-Time Virtual Students, and Students who are Quarantined. Instructional staff members will also use this time to communicate with students and parents in all three groups as needed.
