Dear Class of 2020 Students and Parents,

I hope this letter finds you and all of your family members in the best of health.  During this unprecedented time in modern history, we are committed to providing clear and detailed information that directly impacts bringing positive closure to your time at Wautoma High School.  Listed below is important information regarding:  1. The Graduation Ceremony; 2.  Senior Awards and Scholarship Night; 3. Senior Recognition; and 4. Clarification on Parades per the Safer at Home Order

We greatly appreciate your patience as we continue our best attempt to navigate through this uncharted territory.

Sincerely,

Mrs. Johnson
Mr. Bednarek
Mr. Rheinheimer

CLASS OF 2020 GRADUATION CEREMONY:

Based on Governor Evers’ current order, school buildings and associated grounds are closed to students for all activities through June 30th, 2020; which in turn, forces us to postpone the May 23rd, 2020 Graduation Ceremony.  Therefore, we are asking you to save August 8th, 2020 as the date that we will hold the Class of 2020 Graduation Ceremony (Please also save the date of August 7th for a potential graduation practice).  We have chosen this date because of its distant proximity from the current order, and yet is still located before most students will be going off to postsecondary commitments.

Please note that we have no concrete idea what restrictive orders we will be working under even on August 8th.  Therefore, we will do our best to communicate to you in a timely manner what graduation will look like on August 8th.  This communication may be one to two weeks prior to August 8th so please be ready to move quickly.

SENIOR AWARDS/SCHOLARSHIP NIGHT:

In order to recognize Senior Awards and Scholarship recipients, the Wautoma Area School District will have a pre-recorded presentation linked to the school district YouTube Channel on May 20th at 5 PM.  This link will stay active from this date and time forward.  You can find the WASD YouTube Channel on the front page of the district website, www.wautomasd.org.  Scholarships and awards will be handed out to seniors during the last week of May on the high school drop-off/pick-up days - this schedule will be communicated out within the next two weeks. Any scholarship and award not picked up during this scheduled time will be mailed to the student.

SENIOR RECOGNITION:

The Wautoma High School administrative staff are currently working on two projects to recognize the Class of 2020.  A Senior Video and Personalized Yard Signs are being created to be shown and exhibited within the next month.  There will be additional detailed information regarding these tributes on the school district website and in an attached document.

CLARIFICATION ON PARADES:

The Wautoma Area School District is not planning or promoting any parades at this time.  This decision is based on the Wisconsin Safer at Home Order which prohibits activities that could lend to social gathering. This Order is in effect through June 30th for school buildings and grounds, and through May 26th for public areas. If this Order is lifted and/or made less restrictive, and we need to use a parade format for the August 8th Graduation Date, we will have a plan in place and communicate it clearly and fully.

All families of senior students will also receive this letter and additional documents through the mail.

You can also access these additional documents via the WHS At-Home Instruction Tab on the school district website - www.wautomasd.org.
